Kenya's deputy police chief, Eliud Langat, has resigned following weeks of protests and mounting anger over the death of a teacher in police custody.

The teacher had been detained because he had accused Langat of corruption.

Albert Ojwang died two days after his arrest, and pathologists concluded that he had been brutally assaulted.
